The cited reasoning from those 12 is ruefully entertaining......and wrt some of them provide further reinforcement for my personal credo to never, ever spend a dollar within the states of AL, MS or LA

We are driving to Dallas next spring and will include almost 500 miles of extra time by going up thru GA, west thru TN and AR all to avoid setting foot in the three most racist-populated states in the Union

If you are referring to the Tulsa Massacre - Black Wall Street - yeah, I had never heard of that either - but I believe this holiday is the day the last slaves were freed (though I could be wrong) - if the holiday is recognizing the day the last slave was officially freed then we should have had this holiday some 50 years ago - I don't think we should have a holiday for a massacre in Tulsa - so much fucked up shit has gone on in the history of the world and the US that we don't need a holiday for every tragic event
